Biography

Adam Cairns has been a photojournalist at ThisWeek Community Newspapers in Columbus, Ohio since 2006. Prior to that he interned at the Columbus Dispatch for nearly a year while studying for a master’s degree in journalism from Ball State.

Prior to his time in Columbus, Adam studied photojournalism and journalism graphics as an undergrad at Ball State, spent a summer as a visual journalism fellow at the Poynter Institute, and worked as a metro page designer at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

Adam has a diverse background in photography and multimedia storytelling. In addition to extensive travels through Europe, he has covered professional sporting events, presidential visits, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, and Native Americans of the United States Southwest. At his current job, Adam spends a great deal of time telling the stories of high school athletes and the communities they live in.

Adam brings his journalism background and creative eye to all of his work and freelance assignments.
