ARC – While I hate the sport of wrestling (SO barbaric and must be very smelly!) my favorite photo was the one of the two wrestlers..very captivating! I also chuckled at the one of the little kids doing what kids do best…being goofy! Once again, I love being able able to see what you’ve been doing and viewing this month through your camera’s lens. I love this photograph. It takes a very strong person to go into war, even as a photographer. but I think that Leroy was an exceptionally strong women. Her photography is just amazing.

Hello there,

I’m one of those high school students that don’t really know what they are going to do for the rest of their life. It’s really quite an intimidating thing; trying to figure it all out.

I have about a year or so before I need to really make any choices so I’m good. Anyways, I’m sitting here trapped at school on a computer, looking up photojournalism for this research project on future careers.

That’s when I got the idea to combine “Gonzo” (Yes, I’m well aware of the coined term by HST.) and photojournalism.

Well, it led me here, and I’m pretty damn interested. I’m not sure if this is active, or if anyone will be reading this, but I’ve decided to take the five or so minutes to type this up.

Adam–These are really cool. I especially liked 2 of them: the one where everyone is coming off the blocks but only the one swimmer is clear! That is a neat effect. And the one with the 2 boys with their strokes at the same point! Pretty impressive!! Glad I was able to help you in high school!!

Hey there! Just started checking out your blog and I am LOVING your antecedotes with the photos (especially as someone who is picking up photography myself and constantly learning new things about the craft!)

I know you talk in this post about going with a printer at home to save money, but you should check out getting an account with White House Custom Color. They are the pro lab I’m going with, very well respected and have reasonable prices with a minimum order of $12 (and no cost to “be a member” or anything like that). Just trying to save you a LOT of money the next time you’re looking to make a 16×20 ….

ARC – I’m very curious as the what Sam, the macaw, did for a living??? You mentioned that he “worked” at the Kahiki for 27 years…as what…dishwasher, hostess, or perhaps the bouncer? This congers up some VERY strange pictures in my mind. Nevertheless, the photo was brilliant…YOUR work never ceases to amaze me! Mom

This photo was taken on a particularly windy day in Duck, North Carolina on the Outer Banks while I was down there for my cousin’s wedding in May.
